Welcome to the ASEPCO Mixer Wizard!

Now, you’re probably asking yourself, “What is a Mixer Wizard?” (and, no, it isn’t some guy who shows up at your place with a wand, waves it, and says Presto! And your mixing is done—it’d be nice though, wouldn’t it?)

The Mixer Wizard is a tool to help you quickly choose a mixer for your application. You should read the following before using the Mixer Wizard, but if you are in a hurry or have used it before, just scroll down and fill in the blanks.

There are a few things to keep in mind when using this wizard:

  1. Many of our customers start looking for a mixer and just want a ballpark idea of what size mixer they need to use and how much it will cost, and that’s what this tool is intended to be used for. When you have the details of your vessel and process figured out, then give us the data we need to verify that you have chosen a mixer that will meet or exceed your expectations and requirements. You can easily do this by sending us this form or by calling us at 1-800-882-3886. This is very important with any magnetic mixer, because if you size your mixer too small, then you might have to cut and replace a smaller unit with a larger one. And you know what that can cost in terms of money and, more importantly, time.

  2. As with any generalization, there are certain assumptions that must be made to get an answer. In this case, assume the following when using the Mixer Wizard:

1000 cPs = 714 cSt at specific gravity of 1.0. (Note: this is from memory. Check the facts if we decide to display this.)

Select the parameters that describe your mixing application and click the Configure button.

What kind of mixing are you doing?

The following applications are NOT solved with this wizard:
  • Fermentation
  • Cell culture
  • Gas dispersion
However, please call us at 1-800-882-3886 about mixers available for these applications.
What is the volume (liters) of your vessel?
Choose the next higher volume if your size is not in the list.
How much agitation do you require?
Definitions:
  • Mild = 2 to 3 turnovers per minute
  • Moderate = 3 to 4
  • Vigorous = 4 to 5
  • Violent = 7 to 10
Turnover refers to moving the entire volume of a fluid in a vessel.
(i.e. in a 1000 liter vessel, 1 turnover would equal moving 1000 liters past the impeller).
What is the specific gravity of your material?
